For the Dough:
- 3 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 packet 2 ¼ teaspoons active dry yeast
- ½ cup warm milk 110°F/45°C
- ¼ cup granulated sugar
- ¼ cup unsalted butter melted
- 1 egg room temperature
- ½ teaspoon salt
For the Strawberry Filling:
- 1 ½ cups fresh strawberries diced
- ¼ cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
For the Cream Cheese Filling:
- 8 ounces cream cheese softened
- ¼ cup powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
For the Glaze:
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2 tablespoons milk
- ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
Prepare the Dough:
In a small bowl, mix the yeast into the warm milk and allow it to rest for approximately 5 minutes until it becomes frothy.
In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, and salt. Add the yeast mixture, melted butter, and egg, then stir until a soft dough is formed.
Transfer the dough to a floured countertop and knead for about 5 to 7 minutes until it achieves a smooth and elastic texture.
Place the dough in an oiled bowl, cover it, and let it rise in a warm area for about 1 hour, or until it has doubled in size.
Make the Strawberry Filling:
In a tiny saucepan, mix together the chopped strawberries, granulated sugar, cornstarch, and vanilla extract.
Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the mixture thickens and becomes jam-like, about 5-7 minutes.
Remove from heat and let cool.
Make the Cream Cheese Filling:
In a medium-sized bowl, whip together the softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until the mixture is smooth and creamy.
Assemble the Sweet Rolls:
Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out on a lightly floured surface into a large rectangle (about 12x16 inches).
