- 500 g 1 lb chicken breast, sliced into strips
- 200 g 7 oz bacon, diced or cut into strips
- 400 g 14 oz white cabbage, thinly sliced
- 2 tbsp 30 ml vegetable oil
- 1 medium onion finely chopped (about 100 g)
- 2 garlic cloves minced (about 6–8 g)
- 1 medium carrot thinly sliced (about 100 g)
- 50 ml 3 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tsp honey or sugar to taste about 7 g
- ½ tsp ground black pepper
- 1 tsp paprika powder optional
Prepare the Ingredients: Slice the chicken into strips, dice the bacon, and thinly slice the cabbage and carrot.
Cook the Bacon: Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium heat. Add the diced bacon and cook until crispy, about 3–4 minutes.
Cook the Chicken: In the same skillet, add the sliced chicken. Cook over medium-high heat until browned and fully cooked, about 5–6 minutes. Remove and set aside with the bacon.
Sauté the Vegetables: Add the remaining tablespoon of vegetable oil to the pan. Toss in the onion, garlic, carrot, and cabbage. Sauté over medium heat until the vegetables soften, about 4–5 minutes.
Combine and Flavor: Return the chicken and bacon to the skillet. Pour in the soy sauce, honey (or sugar), and add ground black pepper and paprika powder (if using). Stir everything together and cook for an additional 2–3 minutes, ensuring the flavors are evenly distributed.
Serve Hot: Remove from heat and serve immediately. Enjoy this dish as is, or pair it with steamed rice or noodles for a heartier meal.
