Ingredients

  • 3 slices of bread white, wholemeal, or 50/50
  • 150 g vacuum-packed cooked chestnuts
  • 50 g dried cranberries
  • 1 egg
  • 1 onion
  • 25 g butter
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon dried sage

Instructions

  • Prepare the Bread : Tear the bread into small pieces and set aside in a mixing bowl.
  • Cook the Onion : Finely chop the onion and sauté it in butter over medium heat until softened, about 5 minutes.
  • Mash the Chestnuts : Roughly chop or mash the chestnuts, leaving some small chunks for texture. Add them to the bread pieces.
  • Mix the Ingredients : Combine the cranberries, sautéed onion, salt, pepper, thyme, and sage with the bread and chestnuts. Mix well.
  • Bind the Mixture : Crack the egg into the mixture and stir thoroughly until the ingredients are well combined.
  • Shape the Balls : Using your hands, form the mixture into small balls, about the size of a golf ball. Place them on a lined baking tray.
  • Bake : Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F). Bake the stuffing balls for 20-25 minutes or until golden and slightly crisp on the outside.
  • Serve and Enjoy : Let them cool slightly before serving as a flavorful side dish or appetizer.
