- 1 lb 450 g beef sirloin, thinly sliced
- 4 cups fresh spinach leaves washed
- 2 tablespoons of olive oil or any vegetable oil.
- 1 small onion thinly sliced
- 2 garlic cloves minced
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar optional
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1/4 teaspoon of red pepper flakes optional, to add heat.
Prepare the Ingredients:
Thinly slice the beef sirloin into bite-sized strips.
Wash and drain the spinach leaves. Set aside.
Thinly slice the onion and mince the garlic cloves.
Sear the Beef:
Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
Once the oil is hot, add the thinly sliced beef sirloin in batches to avoid overcrowding the pan. Sear the beef for 2-3 minutes on each side until browned but still tender.
Remove the beef from the skillet and set aside.
Sauté the Onions and Garlic:
In the same skillet, add the remaining tablespoon of oil. Add the sliced onions and sauté for about 2-3 minutes until softened.
Add the minced garlic and cook for an additional 30 seconds, stirring frequently to prevent burning.
.Add the Spinach and Sauces:
Add the fresh spinach to the skillet with the onions and garlic. Stir to wilt the spinach, which should take 1-2 minutes.
Return the seared beef to the skillet.
Pour in the soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, and balsamic vinegar (if using), stirring to coat the beef and spinach in the sauce.
Cook for another 2-3 minutes until the beef is heated through and the spinach is fully wilted.
Season and Serve:
Season the dish with salt and pepper to taste. If you prefer some heat, sprinkle in the red pepper flakes.
Serve the sautéed beef and spinach immediately, either on its own or with rice, noodles, or a side salad.
