Ingredients
  

Stir Fry Sauce:

  • 3 tablespoons low-sodium soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon dark soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
  • 2 teaspoons Chinese cooking wine or Mirin, dry sherry, or rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon white granulated sugar optional for a hint of sweetness

Stir Fry:

  • 1 tablespoon oil vegetable or sesame oil
  • 1 small onion sliced
  • 4 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 teaspoon minced ginger
  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 1 head cabbage core removed and shredded (approx. 8 cups)
  • 1 large carrot peeled and shredded
  • 1 pinch salt to taste
  • 1 pinch cracked black pepper to taste

Instructions
 

  • Make the Stir Fry Sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, oyster sauce, dark soy sauce, hoisin sauce, cooking wine, sesame oil, and sugar. Set the sauce aside.
  • Cook the Ground Beef: Heat 1 tablespoon of oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the sliced onion and sauté for 2-3 minutes until softened. Stir in the minced garlic and ginger, cooking for 30 seconds until fragrant. Add the ground beef, breaking it up with a spatula or spoon. Cook for 4-5 minutes until browned and cooked through. Season with a pinch of salt and cracked pepper.
  • Add the Vegetables: Push the cooked beef to one side of the skillet and add the shredded cabbage and carrot. Stir-fry for 3-4 minutes until the vegetables are slightly softened but still crisp.
  • Combine with Sauce : Pour the prepared stir fry sauce over the beef and vegetables. Stir everything together until evenly coated with the sauce. Cook for another 2 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.
  • Serve and Enjoy: Taste and adjust seasoning if needed. Serve hot on its own, over steamed rice, or with noodles for a complete meal.
