For the Sandwich:
- 2 frozen breaded chicken patties
- 4 slices Italian bread
- 6 thin slices provolone cheese
- 1 cup marinara sauce
- 2 tablespoons Parmesan cheese
- ½ teaspoon dried basil
- 1 pinch garlic salt
For the Garlic Butter:
- 2 tablespoons garlic butter store-bought or homemade
Cook the Chicken Patties : Cook the frozen breaded chicken patties according to the package instructions (baking or air frying works best for crispiness). Once cooked, cut each patty in half so they fit comfortably on the bread slices.
Prepare the Bread : Spread garlic butter evenly on one side of each slice of Italian bread. Sprinkle a pinch of garlic salt over the buttered side for extra flavor.
Assemble the Sandwich : Place a slice of provolone cheese on the unbuttered side of a piece of bread. Top the cheese with a chicken patty half, 2-3 tablespoons of marinara sauce, a sprinkle of Parmesan cheese, and a dash of dried basil. Add another slice of provolone cheese on top of the filling, then cover with another slice of bread (buttered side facing out).
Cook the Sandwich : Heat a skillet over medium-low heat. Place the assembled sandwiches in the skillet and cook for 3-4 minutes on each side, or until the bread is golden brown and crispy and the cheese is melted.
Serve : Remove the sandwiches from the skillet and let them cool for 1-2 minutes before slicing. Serve warm with extra marinara sauce for dipping, if desired.
