For the Potatoes:
- 1 1/2 lb baby potatoes
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil or any neutral oil
- 1 tablespoon toasted sesame seeds
- Green onions chopped (for garnish)
For the Sauce:
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 3 tablespoons honey or your choice of sweetened syrup
- 4 cloves garlic minced
- 1 teaspoon gochugaru Korean chili flakes or red pepper flakes (optional)
- 1/2 cup water
Sauté the Potatoes:
In a large skillet, warm 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil over medium heat.
Add the potatoes and sauté them for about 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the potatoes begin to brown on the outside.
Make the Sauce:
While the potatoes are browning, mix together the soy sauce, honey, minced garlic, gochugaru (if using), and water in a small bowl to create the sauce.
Braise the Potatoes:
Pour the sauce over the browned potatoes in the skillet. Stir to coat the potatoes evenly in the sauce.
Reduce the heat to low, cover the skillet, and let the potatoes simmer for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the potatoes are tender and the sauce has reduced to a thick glaze.
Garnish and Serve:
Once the potatoes are cooked through and glazed with the sauce, remove from heat. Garnish with toasted sesame seeds and chopped green onions.
Serve warm as a side dish with rice or other Korean dishes.
