- 5 cups green cabbage shredded
- 1 cup carrots shredded
- ½ cup onion chopped
- 1 lb lean ground beef
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon turmeric
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon ground black pepper
- ½ cup breadcrumbs
- 1 cup mozzarella cheese shredded
Preheat the Oven: Set your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease an 8x8-inch baking dish or casserole pan and set it aside.
Prepare the Filling: Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add the ground beef and cook until browned, using a spatula to break it up as it cooks. Drain any excess fat, if necessary. Stir in the chopped onion, shredded cabbage, and carrots. Cook for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the vegetables are tender. Season with paprika, turmeric, oregano, salt, and black pepper. Remove from heat and allow to cool slightly.
Mix the Egg Mixture : In a large mixing bowl, whisk the eggs. Mix in the breadcrumbs and half of the mozzarella cheese, stirring until everything is thoroughly combined. Add the beef and vegetable mixture, stirring until fully incorporated.
Assemble the Dish : Pour the mixture into the prepared baking dish, spreading it out evenly. Evenly sprinkle the remaining mozzarella cheese over the top of the mixture.
Bake : Bake in the preheated oven for 25–30 minutes, or until the top is golden and the casserole is set in the center.
Serve : Allow the casserole to cool for 5 minutes before slicing into squares. Serve warm and enjoy!
