Ingredients
  

  • 10 manicotti shells boil a few extra in case some break
  • 15 ounces ricotta cheese
  • 3/4 cup Parmesan cheese grated
  • Three and a half cups of shredded mozzarella cheese set aside in portions.
  • 5 tablespoons cream cheese softened
  • 2 large eggs
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 24 ounces marinara sauce
  • 1 teaspoon each: dried parsley dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon each: dried basil salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • Crumbled bacon for topping for a savory twist

Instructions
 

  • Prepare the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a large baking dish and place it aside for later use.
  • Cook the Manicotti Shells: Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the manicotti shells and cook until al dente according to the package instructions. Drain, rinse with cool water, and lay them on a towel to dry.
  • Prepare the Cheese Filling: In a large mixing bowl, combine the ricotta cheese, grated Parmesan, 2 cups of shredded mozzarella, softened cream cheese, and minced garlic. Incorporate the eggs and stir until the filling achieves a smooth consistency. Stir in dried parsley, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper until evenly distributed.
  • Fill the Manicotti Shells: Using a spoon or piping bag, carefully fill each manicotti shell with the cheese mixture. Place the filled shells in a single layer in the prepared baking dish.
  • Assemble the Dish: Spread a thin layer of marinara sauce over the bottom of the baking dish. Arrange the filled manicotti shells in the dish, then pour the remaining marinara sauce evenly over the top. Sprinkle the remaining 1 1/2 cups of mozzarella cheese on top of the sauce for a cheesy finish.
  • Bake: Cover the dish with foil and bake for 25 minutes. Incorporate the eggs and stir until the filling achieves a smooth consistency.
  • Serve: Garnish with fresh parsley or crumbled bacon (if using) and serve hot. Enjoy with a side salad or garlic bread for a complete Italian meal!
