Ingredients
  

Dough:

  • 3 tubes 8 ounces each refrigerated crescent roll sheets

Filling:

  • ½ cup 1 stick / 113 g unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 tablespoon chives finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon garlic minced
  • 3 cups 339 g mild cheddar cheese, shredded, divided

Garlic Butter:

  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter melted
  • 1 teaspoon garlic minced
  • 1 teaspoon chives finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt

Instructions
 

Step 1: Prepare the Filling

  • In a small bowl, mix softened butter, minced garlic, and chopped chives until well combined. Set aside.

Step 2: Roll Out the Dough

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a muffin tin.
  • Unroll the crescent roll sheets and cut each sheet into equal rectangular strips.

Step 3: Assemble the Cruffins

  • Spread the garlic butter mixture evenly over each dough strip.
  • Sprinkle 2 cups of shredded cheddar cheese over the buttered dough strips, reserving 1 cup for topping.
  • Roll each strip into a tight spiral and place the rolls upright into the muffin tin.

Step 4: Bake the Cruffins

  • Bake for 15–18 minutes, or until the cruffins are golden brown and puffed.
  • Remove from the oven and immediately sprinkle the reserved cheddar cheese over the hot cruffins to melt slightly.

Step 5: Make the Garlic Butter Topping

  • In a small saucepan, melt the butter over low heat. Stir in minced garlic, chopped chives, and kosher salt.
  • Brush the garlic butter mixture over the warm cruffins for an extra layer of flavor.

Step 6: Serve

  • Let the cruffins cool slightly in the tin, then transfer them to a serving plate.
  • Serve warm and enjoy the cheesy, garlicky goodness.
