- 1 lb asparagus trimmed
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 4 cloves garlic minced
- 1 cup Gruyere cheese or Parmesan, shredded
- 5 slices bacon cooked and chopped
Prepare the Asparagus: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Trim the tough ends off the asparagus and arrange them in a single layer on a baking sheet.
Season and Roast: Drizzle the asparagus with olive oil and season with salt and pepper. Toss the asparagus to evenly coat them with the oil and seasoning. Spread the minced garlic evenly over the asparagus. Roast the asparagus in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until they start to become tender.
Add Cheese and Bacon: Once the asparagus is tender, remove the baking sheet from the oven and sprinkle the shredded Gruyere (or Parmesan) cheese evenly over the asparagus. Then, sprinkle the chopped cooked bacon on top.
Bake Until Golden: Return the baking sheet to the oven and bake for an additional 5-7 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly, with a golden crust forming on top.
Serve: Remove the asparagus from the oven and serve hot as a savory side dish alongside your favorite main course.
