Description

If you’re craving something hearty, cheesy, and unforgettable, look no further than Philly Cheesesteak Tortellini Pasta. This dish takes everything you love about the classic Philly cheesesteak—tender beef, caramelized veggies, gooey cheese—and combines it with creamy cheese tortellini. Perfect for weeknight dinners or special gatherings, this fusion recipe is as comforting as it is indulgent.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 package (12 ounces) of cheese tortellini
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 large onion, sliced
  • 1 green bell pepper, sliced
  • 2 cups mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 pound beef steak, thinly sliced
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 cup shredded provolone cheese

Instructions

Step 1: Cook the Tortellini

  1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil.
  2. Add the cheese tortellini and cook according to the package instructions until al dente.
  3. Drain and set aside.

Step 2: Sauté the Vegetables

  1. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add the sliced onion, green bell pepper, and mushrooms.
  3. Sauté for 5–7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until softened and caramelized.
  4. Remove the vegetables from the skillet and set them aside.

Step 3: Cook the Beef Steak

  1. In the same skillet, add the thinly sliced beef steak.
  2. Season with salt and pepper.
  3. Cook for 3–4 minutes per side, until browned and fully cooked.
  4. Remove the beef from the skillet and set aside.

Step 4: Make the Sauce

  1. Pour the beef broth into the skillet and add Worcestershire sauce.
  2. Scrape the bottom of the skillet to deglaze and capture the flavorful bits.
  3. Simmer for 2–3 minutes to reduce the sauce slightly.

Step 5: Combine Everything

  1. Return the sautéed vegetables and cooked beef to the skillet.
  2. Add the drained tortellini and stir to combine all the ingredients.

Step 6: Add the Cheese

  1. Sprinkle the shredded provolone cheese evenly over the top.
  2. Cover the skillet and let it cook for 2–3 minutes, until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

Step 7: Serve

  1. Remove the skillet from the heat and let it cool slightly.
  2. Garnish with fresh parsley or chopped chives, if desired.
  3. Serve hot and enjoy every cheesy, savory bite!

Notes

  • Cheese Substitutions: You can use mozzarella, cheddar, or a mix of Italian cheeses if you don’t have provolone.
  • Beef Options: Ribeye or sirloin works best, but feel free to use flank steak or even ground beef.
  • Make It Spicy: Add red chili flakes or a splash of hot sauce for an extra kick.
  • Vegetarian Option: Substitute the beef with plant-based protein or extra mushrooms and use vegetable broth instead of beef broth.
