Ingredients
Scale
- 8 ounces uncooked pasta
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- ½ medium onion, chopped
- 1 pound lean ground beef
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 (14-ounce) can diced tomatoes with juices
- 2 tablespoons tomato paste
- ½ teaspoon Dijon mustard
- ¼ teaspoon Italian seasoning
- ¾ cup heavy/whipping cream
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Optional: finely shredded Parmesan cheese for garnish
Instructions
1. Cook the Pasta:
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a rolling boil.
- Add the pasta and cook according to the package instructions until al dente.
- Drain the pasta and set it aside.
2. Cook the Ground Beef:
- In a large frying pan, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat.
- Add the chopped onion and sauté for about 3–4 minutes until softened.
- Add the ground beef, breaking it up into smaller pieces as it cooks. Cook until browned and fully cooked through.
3. Add Garlic and Tomatoes:
- Reduce the heat to medium and stir in the minced garlic. Cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
- Add the diced tomatoes (including their juices), tomato paste, Dijon mustard, and Italian seasoning. Mix well to combine.
4. Make the Cream Sauce:
- Lower the heat to medium-low and pour in the heavy cream.
- Stir the sauce until it’s fully combined and begins to thicken, about 3–4 minutes.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste.
5. Combine and Serve:
- Add the cooked pasta to the skillet, tossing gently to coat the pasta evenly in the sauce.
- If desired, sprinkle finely shredded Parmesan cheese over the top for an extra burst of flavor.
- Serve hot and enjoy your creamy beef pasta!
Notes
- Adjust the Creaminess: If you prefer a richer sauce, add a splash more heavy cream or stir in some cream cheese.
- Pasta Options: This dish works well with penne, rigatoni, or spaghetti—choose your favorite!
- Vegetable Additions: Want to add more veggies? Try spinach, mushrooms, or zucchini for extra nutrients and flavor.
- Storage: Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. Reheat on the stovetop or microwave, adding a splash of cream or water to refresh the sauce.
