Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb ground turkey
- 2 medium sweet potatoes, peeled and diced
- 1 can (15 oz) black beans, drained and rinsed
- 1 can (15 oz) corn, drained
- 1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes (with juice)
- 1 medium onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 cups chicken broth
- 2 tablespoons chili powder
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon paprika (optional: smoked paprika for depth)
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 1 tablespoon olive oil (for sautéing)
- Optional toppings: sour cream, cilantro, shredded cheese, avocado slices
Instructions
- Prepare Ingredients: Dice the sweet potatoes, chop the onion, and mince the garlic. Drain and rinse the black beans and corn. Gather your spices.
- Sauté Onion and Garlic: Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add diced onion and minced garlic, cooking until fragrant and softened, about 2–3 minutes.
- Cook Ground Turkey: Add ground turkey to the pot. Break it up with a spoon and cook until browned, seasoning with a pinch of salt and pepper.
- Add Sweet Potatoes and Spices: Stir in the diced sweet potatoes, chili powder, cumin, and paprika. Cook for 1 minute to toast the spices.
- Combine Remaining Ingredients: Add diced tomatoes (with juice), black beans, corn, and chicken broth. Stir well to combine.
- Simmer: Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce heat to low. Cover and let simmer for 25–30 minutes, or until the sweet potatoes are tender and the flavors meld.
- Adjust Seasoning: Taste the chili and adjust the salt, pepper, or chili powder as needed.
- Serve: Ladle the chili into bowls and top with your choice of sour cream, cilantro, shredded cheese, or avocado slices.

- Vegetarian Option: Replace turkey with plant-based meat or extra beans and use vegetable broth.
