Made with fresh pineapple, zesty ginger, and a touch of honey, this tropical sauce is great for glazes, marinades, stir-fries, or dipping. Easy to make and full of bold flavors, it’s a must-have for any kitchen!

Ingredients

Scale

For the Sauce:

  • 1 cup fresh pineapple, finely chopped
  • ½ cup water
  • ¼ cup white vinegar
  • ¼ cup honey
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, minced
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 teaspoons cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons additional water (for cornstarch slurry)
  • 1 teaspoon red chili flakes (adjust based on heat preference)
  • Salt, to taste

Instructions

  • Prepare the Ingredients
    • Finely chop the pineapple and mince the ginger and garlic.
    • In a small bowl, mix cornstarch and 2 tablespoons of water to create a slurry.
  • Simmer the Base
    • In a saucepan over medium heat, combine pineapple, water, vinegar, honey, soy sauce, ginger, garlic, and red chili flakes.
    • Stir well and bring to a gentle simmer, cooking for 5-7 minutes until the flavors meld together.
  • Thicken the Sauce
    • Slowly pour in the cornstarch slurry while stirring continuously.
    • Let it cook for 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens to your desired consistency.
  • Adjust the Flavor
    • Taste the sauce and add salt or extra chili flakes if needed.
    • If it’s too thick, add a splash of water to loosen it.
  • Cool & Store
    • Remove from heat and allow it to cool before using.
    • Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 week.

Notes

  • For a milder sauce, reduce the red chili flakes.
  • For extra tang, increase the vinegar or add a squeeze of lime juice.
  • Pairs well with grilled chicken, seafood, stir-fries, and fried rice.
  • Can be frozen in a sealed container for up to 3 months.
