- 5 medium potatoes
- ¼ white cabbage, finely chopped
- 1 egg
- Salt, to taste
- Finely chopped green pepper, to taste
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 250 grams (8.8 oz) wheat or rice flour
- 1 small carrot, grated
- 2 red onions, chopped
- 5 garlic cloves, crushed
- 100 grams (3.5 oz) mozzarella cheese, grated
- Pepper, paprika, garlic powder, ginger (to taste)
- Oil for frying
Instructions
Prepare the Potatoes and Cabbage
- Boil the potatoes in salted water until soft. Drain and let cool slightly.
- Mash the potatoes in a large mixing bowl until smooth.
- Chop the cabbage finely, sprinkle with a little salt, and let sit for 10 minutes. Squeeze out excess moisture.
Prepare the Mixture
- Add the cabbage, grated carrot, chopped red onions, crushed garlic, and green pepper to the mashed potatoes.
- Season with salt, pepper, paprika, garlic powder, and ginger to taste.
- Stir in the flour and baking powder until well combined.
- Add the egg and mix until incorporated.
- Fold in the grated mozzarella cheese and mix evenly.
Form the Patties
- Take small portions of the mixture and shape them into flat, round patties.
Fry the Patties
- Heat oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Fry the patties for 3-4 minutes per side until golden brown and crispy.
- Remove and drain on a paper towel-lined plate.
Serve
- Enjoy hot and crispy, garnished with fresh herbs or a side of your favorite dipping sauce.
Notes
- For a gluten-free version, use rice flour instead of wheat flour.
