Enjoy the best of breakfast in every bite with this Sausage Gravy Breakfast Pizza. This recipe layers creamy sausage gravy, savory breakfast sausage, gooey cheeses, and fluffy eggs on a perfectly crispy crust. It’s the ultimate morning indulgence that’s easy to make and guaranteed to impress!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound breakfast sausage (mild or spicy)
  • Pre-made or homemade pizza dough (enough for 1 pizza)
  • ¼ cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
  • ½ cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 3 large eggs, lightly beaten
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Fresh chives or green onions, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  • Cook the Breakfast Sausage:

    • Heat a skillet over medium heat. Add the sausage and cook until browned and crumbled, about 8-10 minutes.
    • Transfer the cooked sausage to a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess grease.
  • Make the Sausage Gravy:

    • Leave about 2 tablespoons of sausage drippings in the skillet. Add ¼ cup of flour and stir constantly for 1-2 minutes to create a roux.
    • Gradually whisk in 2 cups of whole milk, stirring until smooth. Cook over medium heat until the gravy thickens, about 5 minutes. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Remove from heat.
  • Prepare the Dough:

    • Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C), or follow the instructions on your pizza dough package.
    • Roll out the dough on a lightly floured surface to your desired thickness. Transfer it to a greased pizza pan or baking sheet.
  • Assemble the Pizza:

    • Brush the pizza dough lightly with olive oil. Spread a generous layer of sausage gravy over the dough, leaving a small border around the edges.
    • Evenly distribute the cooked sausage over the gravy. Top with shredded cheddar and mozzarella cheese.
  • Add the Eggs:

    • Create small wells in the cheese using the back of a spoon. Carefully pour the lightly beaten eggs into the wells. Season the eggs with salt and pepper.
  • Bake the Pizza:

    • Place the assembled pizza in the oven and bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown, the cheese is bubbly, and the eggs are set to your liking.
  • Garnish and Serve:

    • Remove the pizza from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes. Garnish with chopped fresh chives or green onions. Slice into wedges and serve hot.

Notes

  • Make Ahead: Prepare the sausage gravy in advance and store it in the fridge for up to 2 days. Reheat before using.
  • Customize Toppings: Add crumbled bacon, sautéed mushrooms, or diced bell peppers for extra flavor.
  • Check Egg Doneness: Adjust the baking time to ensure the eggs are cooked to your preference—soft and runny or firm and fully set.
