Description

A rich and savory Olive Cheese Bread packed with briny green and black olives, creamy Monterey Jack cheese, and buttery goodness, all melted over crispy French bread. Perfect as an appetizer, snack, or side dish!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 loaf French bread
  • About 25 Spanish Queen pimento-stuffed olives, chopped
  • 1 (6 oz) can black olives, drained and chopped
  • 2 stalks green onions (scallions), sliced
  • 1 stick butter, room temperature
  • ½ cup mayonnaise
  • 3 cups Monterey Jack cheese, grated

Instructions

1. Prepare the Ingredients

  1. Slice the French bread in half lengthwise.
  2. Chop the Spanish Queen olives and black olives into small pieces.
  3. Slice the green onions thinly for mild onion flavor.
  4. Grate the Monterey Jack cheese if using a block.

2. Make the Olive Cheese Mixture

  1. In a large bowl, combine the butter, mayonnaise, and grated cheese. Stir until smooth.
  2. Add the chopped olives and green onions, mixing until evenly distributed.

3. Assemble the Bread

  1. Spread the olive cheese mixture evenly across both halves of the French bread.
  2. Ensure full coverage for a gooey, cheesy finish.

4. Bake to Perfection

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Place the prepared bread on a baking sheet, cheese side up.
  3. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  4. Broil for an additional 2-3 minutes for a golden, crispy top.

5. Serve & Enjoy

  1. Let the bread cool slightly before slicing into portions.
  2. Serve warm and enjoy the cheesy, olive-packed goodness!

Notes

  • Want a Spicy Kick? Add red pepper flakes or diced jalapeños.
  • Make It Lighter: Use Greek yogurt instead of mayonnaise.
  • Storage Tip: Store leftovers in the fridge and reheat in the oven for the best texture.
