Description

Grilled BBQ Chicken Thighs are the perfect summertime meal. Juicy, smoky, and coated in a tangy barbecue glaze, these chicken thighs are easy to make and packed with flavor. Ideal for backyard parties or weeknight dinners, they’ll quickly become a family favorite.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 68 bone-in, skin-on chicken thighs
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup BBQ sauce (adjust sweetness to taste)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Chicken:
    • Pat chicken thighs dry with paper towels.
    • Brush each piece with olive oil to ensure even coating.
  2. Season the Chicken:
    • In a small bowl, mix garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper.
    • Rub the seasoning blend evenly over the chicken.
  3. Preheat the Grill:
    • Heat your grill to medium-high (375–400°F).
    • Lightly oil the grill grates to prevent sticking.
  4. Grill the Chicken:
    • Place chicken thighs skin-side down on the grill.
    • Grill for 5–7 minutes until the skin is crisp and golden. Flip and grill for another 5–7 minutes.
  5. Add BBQ Sauce:
    • Brush BBQ sauce over the chicken during the last 5 minutes of cooking.
    • Flip and brush the other side, letting the sauce caramelize.
  6. Check for Doneness:
    • Use a meat thermometer to ensure the internal temperature reaches 165°F.
  7. Rest and Serve:
    • Remove the chicken from the grill and let it rest for 5 minutes.
    • Serve with extra BBQ sauce on the side if desired.

Notes

  • Drying the chicken before seasoning helps achieve crispy skin.
  • Add BBQ sauce toward the end to prevent burning from the sugar.
  • Experiment with different BBQ sauce flavors for variety.
