Ingredients
Scale
- Use 1 pound of pizza dough (which can be either prepared at home or purchased from a store.)
- 8 oz cream cheese (softened)
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- Finely chop 2 to 3 jalapeños (omit seeds for less spiciness)
- Cook 4 slices of bacon until crisp (then crumble into small pieces)
- Salt and pepper (to taste)
- 1 egg (beaten (for egg wash))
- For added flavor (consider using 2 tablespoons of melted butter (to brush on top).)
Instructions
- Prepare the Oven: Set your oven temperature to 375°F (190°C) and place parchment paper on a baking sheet.
- Prepare the Filling: In a medium bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, shredded cheddar cheese, diced jalapeños, crumbled bacon, salt, and pepper.
- Shape the Dough: Roll out the pizza dough on a lightly floured surface to about ¼ inch thickness. Cut the dough into 12-15 equal pieces, depending on your desired roll size.
- Stuff the Rolls: Place about 1 tablespoon of the cheese and jalapeño filling in the center of each dough piece. Fold the edges of the dough over the filling, pinching to seal the edges and form a round ball.
- Egg Wash: Arrange the stuffed dough balls on the prepared baking sheet. Brush each roll with the beaten egg to give them a shiny, golden finish when baked.
- Bake: Bake the rolls in the preheated oven for 15-18 minutes or until they are golden brown and cooked through.
- Optional Butter Brush: For extra flavor, brush the rolls with melted butter immediately after removing them from the oven.
- Serve: Let the rolls cool slightly before serving.
Notes
- For a vegetarian option, omit the bacon and add sautéed mushrooms or roasted red peppers.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days in the refrigerator.
- Unbaked rolls can be frozen for up to 2 months and baked directly from frozen (add 2–3 minutes to baking time).
