Description

Warm, crispy, and loaded with gooey cheese and buttery garlic goodness, this irresistible cheesy garlic bread is the perfect comfort food. Quick to make and packed with flavor, it’s ideal as a side dish, snack, or appetizer for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 14 oz loaf of French or Italian bread
  • 1/4 cup salted butter (softened)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil (not extra virgin)
  • 1 tablespoon minced garlic (or 1 teaspoon granulated garlic)
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper (to taste)
  • 1 1/4 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/3 cup finely shredded Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tablespoon finely chopped fresh parsley

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper for easy cleanup.
  2. Prepare the Bread: Slice the loaf of bread in half lengthwise and place it cut-side up on the baking sheet.
  3. Make the Garlic Butter: In a small bowl, mix softened butter, olive oil, minced garlic, a pinch of salt, and freshly ground black pepper until well combined.
  4. Spread the Butter Mixture: Evenly spread the garlic butter mixture over the cut sides of the bread.
  5. Add the Cheese: Sprinkle the mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses evenly over the buttered bread.
  6. Bake the Bread: Place the bread in the preheated oven and bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly. For a golden-brown top, broil for 1-2 minutes, keeping a close eye to prevent burning.
  7. Garnish and Serve: Remove the bread from the oven and sprinkle with chopped parsley. Slice into portions and serve warm.

Notes

  • Substitute mozzarella with cheddar or provolone for a flavor twist.
  • Add a pinch of red pepper flakes for a spicy kick.
  • Use gluten-free bread for a gluten-free option.
  • Leftovers can be refrigerated for up to 2 days or frozen for 2 months.
