Ingredients
Scale
- 4 ciabatta rolls
- 16 slices ham
- 8 slices Swiss cheese
- ½ cup mayo
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 1–2 teaspoons dried mustard
- 1 teaspoon poppy seeds
- Optional: 1 tablespoon melted butter + ¼ teaspoon poppy seeds
Instructions
- Prepare the Honey Mustard Sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together the mayo, honey, and dried mustard until smooth and well combined. Adjust the mustard quantity to taste, depending on how strong of a mustard flavor you prefer.
- Assemble the Sandwiches: Slice the ciabatta rolls in half and spread the honey mustard sauce generously on the inside of each half. Layer 4 slices of ham and 2 slices of Swiss cheese on each roll.
- Optional Topping: If using the optional topping, brush the tops of the ciabatta rolls with melted butter and sprinkle with poppy seeds. This adds extra flavor and a slight crunch to the sandwich.
- Toast the Sandwiches: Heat a griddle or pan over medium heat. Place the sandwiches on the pan and cook for 3-4 minutes on each side, pressing down gently with a spatula, until the cheese is melted and the bread is golden and crisp. Alternatively, you can bake the sandwiches in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for about 10 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the rolls are crispy.
- Serve: Serve the sandwiches warm, with a side of chips, pickles, or a light salad for a complete meal.
Notes
- Customizations: Add tomato slices, arugula, or caramelized onions for extra layers of flavor.
- Reheating: To reheat leftovers, place them in a 350°F (175°C) oven for 10 minutes.
- Make Ahead: Assemble sandwiches up to 4 hours in advance and toast just before serving.
