A classic party favorite elevated with a rich, buttery glaze made from Dijon mustard, brown sugar, and Worcestershire sauce, served with a sprinkle of poppy seeds.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pack of crescent rolls (8-count)
  • 1/2 pack of crescent rolls (4-count)
  • 1 packet of Lit’l Smokies sausages (14 oz)
  • 1/4 cup plus 1 tablespoon spicy Dijon mustard
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon poppy seeds

Instructions

Step 1: Preheat the Oven

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Prepare a baking sheet by lining it with parchment paper or lightly greasing it.

Step 2: Prepare the Crescent Rolls

  • Open the crescent dough and separate it into individual triangles.
  • Cut each triangle in half to create smaller triangles.

Step 3: Wrap the Smokies

  • Place one Lit’l Smokie sausage at the wide end of each crescent triangle.
  • Roll the dough around the sausage, starting at the wide end and wrapping it fully. Repeat for all sausages.

Step 4: Make the Glaze

  • In a small saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter.
  • Stir in the spicy Dijon mustard, brown sugar, and Worcestershire sauce.
  • Allow the mixture to simmer for 2–3 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the glaze thickens slightly.

Step 5: Brush and Sprinkle

  • Arrange the wrapped Smokies on the prepared baking sheet.
  • Generously brush the glaze over each piece using a pastry brush.
  • Sprinkle poppy seeds evenly over the tops.

Step 6: Bake

  • Bake the pigs in a blanket for 12–15 minutes, or until the crescent rolls are golden brown and crispy.
  • Keep an eye on them during the last few minutes to prevent overbaking.

Step 7: Serve

  • Remove from the oven and let cool slightly.
  • Serve warm with an extra side of spicy Dijon mustard for dipping, if desired.

Notes

  • Use cold crescent dough for easier handling.
  • Customize the glaze with a touch of hot sauce or cayenne pepper for extra heat.
  • For even baking, space the pigs in a blanket slightly apart on the sheet.
