Description

Start your day with a rich, creamy, and flavorful egg salad croissant sandwich. The buttery, flaky croissant perfectly complements the smooth egg salad, making this an ideal breakfast, brunch, or light lunch. With a touch of Dijon mustard, fresh herbs, and the crunch of lettuce, every bite is both refreshing and satisfying. This recipe is quick, easy to make in under 20 minutes, and can be customized to suit your taste.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 large eggs
  • ¼ cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh dill (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh chives (optional)
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • 4 croissants, sliced in half horizontally
  • Lettuce leaves for serving
  • Sliced tomatoes for serving (optional)
  • Sliced avocado for serving (optional)

Instructions

1. Cook the Eggs

  • Place the eggs in a saucepan and cover with water.
  • Bring to a boil over medium-high heat.
  • Once boiling, cover the saucepan and remove it from the heat. Let the eggs sit for 10-12 minutes.
  • Transfer the eggs to a bowl of ice water to cool.
  • Once cooled, peel and chop the eggs.

2. Prepare the Egg Salad

  • In a bowl, mix together chopped eggs, mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, dill, chives, salt, and black pepper.
  • Stir until well combined. Adjust seasoning if needed.

3. Assemble the Sandwiches

  • Slice the croissants in half horizontally.
  • Place a lettuce leaf on the bottom half of each croissant.
  • Spoon a generous amount of egg salad over the lettuce.
  • Add sliced tomatoes and avocado, if desired.
  • Place the top half of the croissant over the filling.

4. Serve and Enjoy

  • Serve immediately or refrigerate for a short period if you prefer a chilled sandwich.
  • Enjoy with a side of fresh fruit, chips, or a cup of coffee.

Notes

  • Croissants taste best when fresh. Try to use buttery, flaky croissants for the best flavor and texture.
  • To prevent sogginess, place a lettuce leaf between the croissant and egg salad.
  • Chill the egg salad for 10 minutes before assembling for a richer taste.
  • Customize your sandwich with crispy bacon, shredded cheese, or a drizzle of hot sauce.
