Ingredients
Scale
- 12 large eggs
- 60 ml water
- 120 g sharp cheddar cheese (shredded)
- Salt (to taste)
- Black pepper (to taste)
- 80 g onion (diced)
- 150 g ham (diced)
- 2 tablespoons butter (about 28g)
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Prepare the Egg Mixture: In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, water, salt, and black pepper until well combined. Set aside.
- Sauté the Onion and Ham: In an oven-safe skillet (about 10 inches), melt the butter over medium heat. Add the diced onion and cook for 2-3 minutes until it’s softened and slightly golden. Add the diced ham and cook for another 2-3 minutes until the ham is heated through and lightly browned.
- Add Cheese and Eggs: Spread the ham and onions evenly in the skillet. Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese over the ham and onions, then pour the egg mixture into the skillet.
- Bake the Frittata: Transfer the skillet to the preheated oven and bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the frittata is puffed and the center is set. (To check, gently shake the skillet—if the center doesn’t jiggle, it’s done.)
- Serve: Remove the frittata from the oven and allow it to cool slightly. Slice into wedges and serve warm. Enjoy as is, or with a side of fresh greens or toast.
Notes
- For extra flavor, add a pinch of garlic powder or smoked paprika to the egg mixture.
- Substitute the cheddar with Swiss, mozzarella, or gouda for a different cheese variation.
- Make it dairy-free by using olive oil instead of butter and a dairy-free cheese alternative.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 4 days, or freeze for up to 3 months.
