Description
Crispy cinnamon apple chips are a healthy,easy-to-make snack with just apples, cinnamon, and a little sugar. Perfect foranytime snacking or as a nutritious lunchbox addition.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 McIntosh apples (or any variety you prefer, cored and sliced into thin rounds, ⅛ to ¼ inch thick)
- 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon granulated sugar (optional)
- Cooking spray or a light mist of oil
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 200°F (95°C). Prepare a baking sheet by lining it with parchment paper and lightly misting it with cooking spray or oil.
- Prepare the apples by coring and slicing them into rounds about ⅛ to ¼ inch thick. Try to keep the slices consistent in thickness for even cooking.
- Season the apple slices by placing them in a large bowl. Sprinkle the ground cinnamon evenly over the apples and, if desired, add the optional teaspoon of sugar for a touch of sweetness.
- Arrange the apples on the prepared baking sheet in a single layer, ensuring they don’t overlap.
- Bake the apple chips in the preheated oven for 2-3 hours. Flip the slices halfway through to ensure even drying. The apples should be crisp and dry when they’re done.
- Cool and store the apple chips. Once out of the oven, let them cool completely to achieve maximum crunchiness.
Notes
- Choose Your Apples: Sweeter apples like Fuji or Honeycrisp are great for naturally sweet chips. For a tangy kick, try Granny Smith.
- Slice Thin: Thin slices ensure even baking and a crispy texture.
- No Sugar Needed: Apples are naturally sweet, so sugar is optional!
- Check for Crispness: Chips should be golden and crispy but not burnt. If they’re still soft after cooling, bake a little longer.
