Description

Crispy cinnamon apple chips are a healthy,easy-to-make snack with just apples, cinnamon, and a little sugar. Perfect foranytime snacking or as a nutritious lunchbox addition.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 McIntosh apples (or any variety you prefer, cored and sliced into thin rounds, to ¼ inch thick)
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon granulated sugar (optional)
  • Cooking spray or a light mist of oil

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 200°F (95°C). Prepare a baking sheet by lining it with parchment paper and lightly misting it with cooking spray or oil.
  2. Prepare the apples by coring and slicing them into rounds about ⅛ to ¼ inch thick. Try to keep the slices consistent in thickness for even cooking.
  3. Season the apple slices by placing them in a large bowl. Sprinkle the ground cinnamon evenly over the apples and, if desired, add the optional teaspoon of sugar for a touch of sweetness.
  4. Arrange the apples on the prepared baking sheet in a single layer, ensuring they don’t overlap.
  5. Bake the apple chips in the preheated oven for 2-3 hours. Flip the slices halfway through to ensure even drying. The apples should be crisp and dry when they’re done.
  6. Cool and store the apple chips. Once out of the oven, let them cool completely to achieve maximum crunchiness.

Notes

  • Choose Your Apples: Sweeter apples like Fuji or Honeycrisp are great for naturally sweet chips. For a tangy kick, try Granny Smith.
  • Slice Thin: Thin slices ensure even baking and a crispy texture.
  • No Sugar Needed: Apples are naturally sweet, so sugar is optional!
  • Check for Crispness: Chips should be golden and crispy but not burnt. If they’re still soft after cooling, bake a little longer.
