Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- ½ cup finely chopped onions
- ½ cup finely chopped pickles
- ¼ cup ketchup
- 2 tablespoons mustard
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 package of egg roll wrappers (about 20 wrappers)
- Vegetable oil for frying
Instructions
Cook the Beef Filling:
- In a spacious frying pan, brown the ground beef over medium heat until it’s fully cooked. Then, drain any excess grease.
- Add the finely chopped onions and cook for another 2-3 minutes until the onions soften.
- Stir in the ketchup, mustard, chopped pickles, salt, and pepper. Stir thoroughly until all components are fully blended.
- Then, take it off the heat and let it sit for a moment to cool down a bit.
Add Cheese:
- After allowing the beef mixture to cool slightly, fold in the shredded cheddar cheese.
- This ensures the cheese doesn’t melt too much before rolling, making the filling easy to handle.
Assemble the Egg Rolls:
- Lay an egg roll wrapper flat on a clean surface with one corner pointing towards you (in a diamond shape).
- Place about 2 tablespoons of the cheeseburger filling in the center of the wrapper.
- Fold the bottom corner up over the filling, then fold the sides towards the center.
- Roll the wrapper tightly, sealing the top edge with a little water to ensure it stays closed.
- Continue the procedure with the rest of the filling and remaining wrappers.
Fry the Egg Rolls:
- In a deep frying pan or pot, warm vegetable oil to a temperature of 350°F (175°C).
- Fry the egg rolls in small batches, turning occasionally, for about 2-3 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.
- Remove and drain on a paper towel-lined plate to soak up any excess oil.
Serve:
- Serve hot with ketchup, mustard, or your favorite dipping sauce on the side.
