Description

This creamy banana dessert is a smooth, velvety treat that melts in your mouth with every bite. Made with ripe bananas, rich butter, egg yolks, and whipped cream, this indulgent pudding-like dessert is naturally sweet, easy to make, and perfect for any occasion. Whether served chilled on a hot day or as a comforting after-dinner delight, this recipe will become your go-to banana dessert!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 ripe bananas (mashed)
  • 40 g (2 tbsp) butter
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1/3 tsp turmeric (optional, for color)
  • 2 egg yolks
  • 25 g (2 tbsp) cornstarch
  • 200 ml (4/5 cup) milk
  • 250 ml (1 cup) chilled cream (33-38%)

Instructions

  • Prepare the Bananas
    • Peel and mash the bananas until smooth.
    • Add lemon juice to prevent browning. If using turmeric, mix it in now.
  • Cook the Banana Base
    • Melt butter in a saucepan over low heat.
    • Add the mashed bananas and stir continuously until fragrant.
  • Make the Custard Mixture
    • In a separate bowl, whisk the egg yolks, cornstarch, and milk until smooth.
    • Slowly pour this mixture into the saucepan, stirring constantly.
  • Thicken the Dessert
    • Cook over low-medium heat while stirring until the mixture thickens into a creamy consistency.
    • Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.
  • Incorporate the Whipped Cream
    • Whip the chilled cream until soft peaks form.
    • Gently fold the whipped cream into the banana mixture for a light, airy texture.
  • Chill and Serve
    • Transfer the dessert into serving bowls or glasses.
    • Refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving for the best texture.

Notes

  • Use very ripe bananas for maximum sweetness.
  • Stir continuously while cooking to prevent lumps.
  • Refrigerate longer (4-6 hours) for a firmer texture.
  • Serve with chocolate shavings, caramel, or chopped nuts for added flavor.
  • For a dairy-free version, replace butter with coconut oil, milk with almond milk, and cream with coconut cream.
