Description

Experience the perfect blend of savory, bold Chinese flavors with the comforting texture of pasta in this Chinese Pasta with Beef and Peppers. This fusion recipe is quick, easy, and delicious, making it perfect for weeknight dinners or when you want to try something new. Ground beef, crisp bell peppers, and a soy sauce-based dressing come together to create a meal bursting with flavor in under 30 minutes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 5 tablespoons oil (divided)
  • 35 garlic cloves, finely chopped
  • 300g ground beef
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 bell peppers, finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons rice wine
  • 100g pasta (enough for two servings)

Instructions

1. Cook the Pasta:

  1. Fill a large pot with salted water and bring it to a rolling boil.
  2. Add the pasta and cook it until al dente, following the package instructions (about 8–10 minutes).
  3. Drain the pasta and set it aside. Reserve 2–3 tablespoons of pasta water to adjust the sauce later if needed.

2. Prepare Your Ingredients:

  1. Finely chop the garlic cloves and bell peppers to ensure even cooking.
  2. Gather and measure out all your ingredients so they are ready to add when needed.

3. Cook the Ground Beef:

  1. Heat 3 tablespoons of oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
  2. Add the chopped garlic to the skillet and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.
  3. Add the ground beef, breaking it apart with a spatula as it cooks.
  4. Cook until the beef is fully browned, about 5–7 minutes.

4. Add the Bell Peppers:

  1. Once the ground beef is cooked, add the finely chopped bell peppers to the skillet.
  2. Sauté for 3–4 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the peppers are tender but still crisp.

5. Make the Sauce:

  1. In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce and rice wine.
  2. This simple mixture will act as the sauce base, adding depth and umami to the dish.

6. Combine Everything:

  1. Add the cooked pasta to the skillet with the ground beef and bell peppers.
  2. Pour the soy sauce and rice wine mixture over the pasta.
  3. Toss the ingredients together until the pasta is evenly coated with the sauce and the beef and peppers are well combined.

7. Finish the Dish:

  1. Drizzle the remaining 2 tablespoons of oil over the mixture.
  2. Toss everything again to add a glossy finish to the pasta.

8. Serve:

  1. Transfer the pasta to serving plates while still hot.
  2. Garnish with optional toppings like chopped scallions or sesame seeds for extra flavor and presentation.
  3. Serve immediately and enjoy!

Notes

  • Pasta Choices: Use spaghetti, linguine, or even egg noodles for an authentic Asian twist.
  • Customize the Protein: Swap out ground beef for ground chicken, turkey, pork, or even plant-based alternatives.
  • Vegetable Additions: Feel free to add mushrooms, snap peas, shredded carrots, or zucchini to enhance the dish.
  • Soy Sauce Substitute: If you don’t have soy sauce, tamari or coconut aminos work well.
