Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 whole loaf of bread (round or long)
  • 20 grams butter, softened
  • 10 slices salami
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ bunch parsley, chopped
  • 100 grams grated mozzarella cheese

Optional Add-Ins for Extra Flavor

  • Chopped olives
  • Sautéed mushrooms
  • Crushed red pepper flakes
  • Caramelized onions
  • Different cheeses like gouda or cheddar

Instructions

Prepare the Loaf

  1. Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).
  2. Take the whole loaf of bread and slice it horizontally in half, being careful not to cut all the way through.
  3. Spread the softened butter over the inside of both halves for extra flavor.

Prepare the Filling

  1. In a medium bowl, whisk the eggs, salt, and chopped parsley until fully combined.

Layer the Salami and Cheese

  1. Place the salami slices evenly on the bottom half of the loaf.
  2. Sprinkle grated mozzarella cheese generously over the salami.

Pour the Egg Mixture

  1. Pour the egg and parsley mixture evenly over the salami and cheese.
  2. Gently press the top half of the loaf down to close the stuffed bread.

Bake the Stuffed Loaf

  1. Wrap the loaf in aluminum foil to keep it moist.
  2. Place it on a baking sheet and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the eggs are set and the cheese has melted.
  3. Unwrap the foil in the last 5 minutes for a crispy crust.

Slice and Serve

  1. Remove from the oven and let cool for 5 minutes before slicing.
  2. Serve warm and enjoy!

Notes

  • For a crunchier texture, bake without foil for the last few minutes.
  • Leftovers can be stored in the fridge for up to 3 days and reheated in the oven.
  • Try using different breads like sourdough, ciabatta, or baguette.
