Description

Crispy breadsticks stuffed with gooey mozzarella, brushed with a rich garlic butter. These breadsticks are perfect as a snack orside dish and pair wonderfully with marinara sauce for dipping.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Breadsticks:

  • 12 mozzarella sticks (string cheese works well)
  • 2 pounds pizza dough
  • ⅓ cup mozzarella cheese (shredded)

For the Garlic Butter:

  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter (melted)
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley (finely chopped)
  • 1 tablespoon Parmesan cheese (grated)
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
  • Pinch of black pepper

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Oven: Set your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly coat it with oil.
  2. Prepare the Dough: Divide the pizza dough into 12 equal portions. Roll each portion into a long strip, about 6-7 inches long.
  3. Stuff the Breadsticks: Place one mozzarella stick at the edge of each dough strip and roll it up, completely enclosing the mozzarella. Pinch the seams and ends tightly to seal so the cheese doesn’t ooze out during baking.
  4. Bake the Breadsticks: Place the cheese-stuffed breadsticks on the prepared baking sheet. Cook in the oven for 12 to 15 minutes, or until they are golden brown and thoroughly cooked.
  5. Make the Garlic Butter: While the breadsticks are baking, prepare the garlic butter by combining the melted butter, parsley, Parmesan, salt, garlic powder, and black pepper in a small bowl.
  6. Brush with Garlic Butter: As soon as the breadsticks come out of the oven, brush them generously with the garlic butter mixture. Optionally, sprinkle with a little extra Parmesan or parsley for added flavor.
  7. Serve: Serve the breadsticks warm, alongside marinara sauce for dipping, if desired.

Notes

  • Seal Tightly: Ensure the dough completely encloses the mozzarella to prevent leaks.
  • Keep the Dough Cool: If the dough becomes sticky, chill it for a few minutes before rolling.
  • Experiment with Flavors: Swap mozzarella for cheddar or pepper jack for a twist, or add Italian seasoning to the garlic butter.
