Description

Cabbage and Beef Bake is a hearty and delicious dish that combines ground beef, cabbage, and cheese, making it a perfect family meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 small head of green cabbage, chopped (about 4 cups)
  • 1 can (15 ounces) diced tomatoes, undrained
  • 1 cup cooked rice (white or brown)
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F.
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef with the chopped onion and minced garlic until the beef is no longer pink. Drain excess fat.
  3. Add the chopped cabbage to the skillet and cook for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until slightly wilted.
  4. Stir in the diced tomatoes, cooked rice, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Mix well and cook for another 2-3 minutes.
  5. Transfer the mixture to a greased 9×13-inch baking dish.
  6. Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the top.
  7. Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 30 minutes.
  8. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
  9. Let it cool for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • For a spicier kick, add ½ teaspoon of red pepper flakes to the beef mixture.
  • You can substitute ground turkey or chicken for a leaner option.
  • For a vegetarian version, replace the ground beef with a mix of black beans and lentils.
