Ingredients

Scale

For the Cheese Balls:

  • 1 ½ cups broccoli, finely chopped
  • 3 cups sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1 cup Italian bread crumbs
  • 4 large eggs
  • ¼ cup green onions, chopped
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper

For the Coating:

  • 1 cup Panko bread crumbs

Instructions

  • Prepare the Ingredients

    • Finely chop the broccoli into small pieces.
    • Shred the cheddar cheese and chop the green onions.
  • Mix the Ingredients

    • In a large mixing bowl, combine the chopped broccoli, shredded cheddar cheese, green onions, Italian bread crumbs, salt, garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper.
    • Stir well until all ingredients are evenly mixed.
  • Add the Eggs

    • In a separate bowl, beat the eggs.
    • Pour the eggs into the broccoli mixture and stir until the mixture binds together.
  • Shape the Cheese Balls

    • Use your hands or a small scoop to form 1-inch cheese balls.
    • The mixture should make around 20-25 cheese balls.
  • Coat with Panko Bread Crumbs

    • Roll each cheese ball in the Panko bread crumbs, ensuring they are fully coated.
  • Cook the Cheese Balls

    • Baking Method: Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Place the cheese balls on a parchment-lined baking sheet and bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
    • Frying Method: Heat oil in a deep skillet over medium heat. Fry the cheese balls in small batches for 2-3 minutes per side until crispy and golden. Drain on paper towels.
  • Serve & Enjoy

    • Serve warm with your favorite dipping sauce, such as ranch, marinara, or honey mustard.

Notes

  • For extra crispiness, double-coat the cheese balls by dipping them in beaten egg before rolling in Panko.
  • Make them gluten-free by using gluten-free bread crumbs.
  • Add a spicy kick with a pinch of cayenne pepper or red pepper flakes.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days, or freeze for up to 3 months.
