It’s quick, easy, and perfect for weeknight dinners or special occasions. Pair it with rice or noodles for a satisfying meal your whole family will enjoy.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 oz (230g) skinless, boneless chicken breast, cut into thin strips
  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 1 green bell pepper, cut into strips
  • 1 teaspoon freshly milled black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce (1 tablespoon to marinate the chicken)
  • 1/4 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon Maggi seasoning

Instructions

1. Marinate the Chicken:

  • In a bowl, combine the chicken strips with 1 tablespoon of soy sauce. Let the chicken marinate for 10 minutes while preparing the other ingredients.

2. Prepare the Vegetables:

  • Slice the onion and cut the green bell pepper into thin strips. Set them aside for stir-frying.

3. Heat the Oil:

  • Heat 2 tablespoons of oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.

4. Cook the Chicken:

  • Add the marinated chicken to the hot skillet. Stir-fry for 4–5 minutes until the chicken is golden brown and cooked through. Remove from the skillet and set aside.

5. Sauté the Vegetables:

  • In the same skillet, add the sliced onion and green bell pepper. Stir-fry for 2–3 minutes until they are slightly softened but still crisp.

6. Combine the Ingredients:

  • Return the cooked chicken to the skillet. Add the remaining soy sauce, freshly milled black pepper, sugar, and Maggi seasoning. Toss well to combine and coat everything evenly.

7. Simmer for Flavor:

  • Reduce the heat to low and let the chicken and vegetables simmer in the sauce for 2–3 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.

8. Serve:

  • Transfer the Black Pepper Chicken to a serving dish. Serve hot with steamed rice, fried rice, or noodles for a complete meal.

Notes

  • For maximum flavor, use freshly milled black pepper instead of pre-ground pepper.
  • Customize the vegetables by adding carrots, broccoli, or snap peas.
  • If you prefer less spice, reduce the amount of black pepper or omit it altogether.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days and reheat gently in a skillet.
