Description
Thick rounds of cabbage roasted to perfection witha sweet and tangy balsamic honey glaze, garnished with fresh herbs for anelegant and flavorful side.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 large head of cabbage (about 800g, cut into 1-inch thick rounds)
- 3 tablespoons olive oil (about 45 ml)
- 3 tablespoons balsamic vinegar (about 45 ml)
- 1 tablespoon honey (about 15 ml)
- 2 cloves garlic (minced (about 6g))
- Salt and black pepper (to taste)
- Fresh thyme leaves or finely chopped parsley (for a colorful garnish (optional).)
Instructions
- Get Ready to Roast the Cabbage Steaks: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper for effortless cleanup. Arrange the cabbage rounds, or “steaks,” in a single layer on the sheet.
- Make the Balsamic Honey Glaze: In a small bowl, whisk together the olive oil, balsamic vinegar, honey, and minced garlic until well combined.
- Season and Glaze the Cabbage: Brush the balsamic honey mixture generously over each cabbage steak, making sure to coat them evenly. Sprinkle each steak with salt and black pepper to taste.
- Roast the Cabbage: Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and roast for 25-30 minutes, or until the edges of the cabbage are golden and caramelized, and the centers are tender. If desired, you can broil them for an additional 2-3 minutes at the end for extra caramelization.
- Garnish and Serve: Remove the cabbage steaks from the oven and sprinkle with fresh thyme leaves or chopped parsley for a pop of color and added flavor. Serve hot as a flavorful side dish or a light main course.
