Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Set your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9-inch pie plate with nonstick spray or butter.
- Prepare Apples: Peel, core, and slice the apples. Spread them evenly in the prepared pie plate. Drizzle with lemon juice.
- Make Crumb Topping: In a medium bowl, mix flour, granulated sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt. Add chilled butter chunks and use a pastry blender or your fingers to form coarse crumbs. (Optional: Mix in oats for extra texture.)
- Assemble: Sprinkle the crumb topping evenly over the apples.
- Bake: Place the pie plate in the oven and bake for 30 minutes. Cover loosely with foil and bake an additional 15–20 minutes, until the topping is golden and the apples are bubbling.
- Serve: Let cool slightly and serve warm with vanilla ice cream, if desired.
