- 100 ml (3.4 fl oz) water
- 20 ml (0.7 fl oz) fresh lemon juice
- 7 g (0.2 oz) salt
- 200 ml (6.8 fl oz) heavy cream
- 80 g (2.8 oz) powdered sugar
- 300 g (11 oz) whipping cream (for extra topping)
Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Apples
- In a large pan, melt the butter over medium heat.
- Add the apple slices, cinnamon, and brown sugar. Stir to coat the apples evenly.
- Cook for 5-7 minutes until the apples are tender and caramelized. Remove from heat and set aside.
Step 2: Prepare the Caramel Sauce
- In a small saucepan, combine granulated sugar, water, and lemon juice.
- Heat over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the sugar dissolves and turns golden brown. Be careful not to burn the caramel.
- Remove the pan from heat and stir in the salt. Allow the caramel sauce to cool slightly.
Step 3: Bake the Puff Pastry
- Preheat your oven to 200°C (390°F).
- Roll out the puff pastry and cut it into squares or strips, depending on your desired shape.
- Place the pastry pieces on a lined baking sheet and bake for 10-12 minutes or until golden brown and puffed. Set aside to cool.
Step 4: Prepare the Whipped Cream
- In a mixing bowl, whip the heavy cream and powdered sugar until soft peaks form.
- In another bowl, whip the extra whipping cream until stiff peaks form. Reserve for topping.
Step 5: Assemble the Dessert
- Place a piece of baked puff pastry on a serving plate.
- Top with caramelized apples and drizzle caramel sauce over them.
- Add a dollop of whipped cream and serve with extra whipped cream on the side for indulgence.
Notes
- Make It Ahead: You can prepare the caramel sauce and caramelized apples ahead of time. Store them separately in airtight containers in the refrigerator.
- Serve Fresh: Assemble the dessert just before serving to keep the puff pastry crisp.
